| MyGDI Metadata Catalogue or Data Explorer enables users to discover, view, and access geospatial data from anywhere at anytime.MyGDI simplifies access to geographic information, promote better integration, and facilitate improvement of business processes and systems that use geospatial information across government agencies.
MyGDI Metadata Catalogue is an interface available for users to explore the geospatial data that are made available by the providing agencies and get details about the data. Using this method, data exploring are made accessible through search engine, which provide an interface where the user can submit search queries. Subsequent to submitting a query, a list of resulting metadata based on the search prompted and details of metadata as linked to the results of the search can further be investigated. There are four options available to users to submit queries.
By specifying the options as listed above, either individually or by combining any of them, users will be prompted with the metadata list from which the user will be led further to the metadata to get further information about the data. Upon clicking the title of the metadata, the associated metadata details will be shown. At the metadata details page, the user can also view the map and proceed to order the data at the viewing page as well as to download the data. The e-commerce and downloading function requires the users to be an authorized user and to have access to the e-commerce account. The New Explorer is currently under development but the beta version can be viewed. It is developed using the GIS Portal Toolkit 9.3 Fill in the blanks template for MyGDI Metadata (based on MS ISO 19115:2003). Which must be completed online by registered users (with password and username). A form that must be completed manually by users (if users has a problem filling online) and all the information will be filled again by MaCGDI (as representative of agencies) for metadata publishing on the MyGDI Metadata template. A reference document for filling the MyGDI Metadata template.
Under this map viewing function, a user is provided with a capability to overlay map layers from different sources that can be accessed through the Internet. This can further facilitate the user in his/her decision to assess the data before purchasing them. |
