About Malaysia Geoportal
|
Malaysia Geoportal focuses on geospatial industry through dissemination of GIS capabilities and contents. It aims to derive further value from the investment in the industry by the community.
Malaysia Geoportal and National Geospatial Data Centre/State Geospatial Data Centre (NGDC/SGDC) are supporting projects that are part of MyGDI initiative. MyGDI is the Malaysian NSDI that establishes the standards for geospatial data sharing. While MyGDI establishes the standards, NGDC/SGDC applies the standards in the fundamental datasets and Malaysia Geoportal provides the access to data and applications that observe the standards. Accordingly, the main components of Malaysia Geoportal are Metadata Catalog, GIS applications, and NGDC/SGDC. Accessible through Malaysia Geoportal, NGDC/SGDC covers the fundamental datasets at the national and state levels, respectively. The fundamental datasets are the important elements that can be used as the basis for development of other geospatial data. The fundamental datasets will enable users to use and carry out analysis reliably in GIS applications due to the ensured data integrity.
