National Geospatial Data Infrastructure Implementation Circular No. 1 of 2005 GUIDELINES FOR DETERMINING PRICING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GEOSPATIAL DATA INTRODUCTION
OBJECTIVE
This set of guidelines is put into place to coordinate the procedure for determining data pricing and service charges among data providers. It will simplify the dissemination of geospatial data between providers and users.
RATIONALE
At present, the sale of geospatial data by agencies through the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MyGDI) has not been fully realised owing to the fact that most data providers do not have the rates for their products. This guideline will help data providers to determine the rate of each product produced.
In the management of geospatial data, copyright and royalty issues must be given due consideration. This set of guidelines will also assist data providers with copyright regulations and rates for royalty payments.
