MyGDI Policy & Guidelines
The Geospatial Data Policy establishes principles, responsibilities and requirements for collecting and managing geospatial data used by Federal environmental programs and projects within the jurisdiction of Malaysia. This Policy also establishes the requirement of collecting and managing geospatial metadata describing the Agency’s geospatial to information sharing, promoting secondary data use, and supporting the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
MyGDI policy emerges as an important reference to eliminate any issues relating to organizational structure, pricing and privacy.
The coverage of the policy comprising:
- Data Custodianship
- Digital Data Pricing
Focus on the importance of accountability among data provider to ensure that the government interest is confidential and well protected.
In realizing the wide usage of geospatial information, a number of guidelines have been developed as follows:
| 1 | Development Administration Circular No. 1 of 1997 |
| The purpose of this Circular is to provide guidance to the Chief Secretaries of Ministries, Heads of Federal Departments, State and Local Authorities in relation to the establishment of the National Infrastructure for Land Information System (NaLIS). | |
| 2 | Development Administration Circular Letter No. 1 of 2001 |
| This circular aims to provide guidance on data custodianship as a means to ensure accountability for the management and maintenance of land-related data among government agencies involved in implementing the National Infrastructure for Land Information System (NaLIS). | |
| 3 | MyGDI Implementation Circular Letter No.1 of 2005 |
| This circular aims to provide guidelines on the procedure for data pricing for the dissemination of geospatial data in the implementation of the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure [Malaysia Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MyGDI)]. With this Circular, it would help the agencies determine the price for each product produced. | |
| 4 | MyGDI Implementation Circular Letter No.1 of 2006 |
| The purpose of this circular is to inform the Secretary of Heads of Ministries, Heads of Federal Departments, State and Local Authorities in relation to the development and implementation of the Malaysian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MyGDI), formerly known as the National Infrastructure for Land Information System (NaLIS). | |
| 5 | First Amendment MyGDI Implementation Circular Letter No.1 of 2006 |
| The purpose of this circular is to inform the Secretary of Heads of Ministries, Heads of Federal Departments, State and local authorities in relation to amendments to MyGDI Management Structure (Appendix 'A') in the Guidelines for the Development and Implementation of the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure under the Implementation Circular Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MyGDI) No. 1 of 2006. This amendment has been agreed upon at the meeting of MyGDI Technical Framework Committee (JTFM) Bill. 2/2006 on 27 November 2006 and subsequently confirmed in MyGDI National Coordinating Committee (JPMK) Bill.1/2006 on December 14, 2006.
