  • Information that identifies, describes, or explain the geographical location, boundaries or characteristics of the population as well as the natural or features built on the surface and below the surface of the earth.
  • Lead Agency is recognized as heads of custodians by data categories and is responsible for coordinating data-related activities.
Map service is a web map service that displays geographic data or information in multiple layers of map images over the Internet. Map service uses a geographic dataset that also includes a combination of different data and parameters to determine and display a more dynamic, interactive and clever map image
  • Metadata is 'data about data'. It is information that describes the data / information / services of a product. It covers all kinds of questions as to who, what, when, where, why and how about the product.

Metadata is textual and sometimes graphical information that describes geographic information system (GIS) resources in the same way a card in a library's card catalogue describes a book. Once you've found a resource with a search, its metadata will help you decide whether it's suitable for your purposes. To make this decision, you may need to know how accurate or current the resource is and if there are any restrictions on how it can be used. Metadata can answer these questions.

MS1759 is a method of encoding features and attributes that facilitates geospatial information structuring. Efficient and systematic sharing requires structured and uniform storage of geospatial information.

  • For example: Feature Code TA0060 refers to the ROAD feature. The agencies that want to share are required to use the same feature code TA0060 as a reference for the ROAD feature.

MyGDI Explorer is an application that provides a catalog of National geospatial information. This application enables users to search, view, review, share and manage geospatial information metadata

Malaysia Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MyGDI) is an initiative by the government to develop a geospatial data infrastructure to enhance the awareness about data availability and improve access to geospatial information. This can be fulfilled by facilitating data sharing among participating agencies. MyGDI as the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) for Malaysia, is a national infrastructure comprises of person, policy, standard, geospatial information and technology established by MyGDI Circular Letter No. 1 of 2006 - Guidelines for the Implementation of Malaysia Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MyGDI) for the purpose of facilitating the sharing and dissemination of geospatial information amongst government agencies, private sector and the general publics. Through this infrastructure, smart partnership among agencies is continuously being developed to produce and share geospatial information thus providing customer-focused, cost effective and timely delivery of geospatial data.

MyGeo Data Services is an application that provides information based on 12 categories of geospatial data that is shared and provided by agencies to other Government or Government agencies (G2G) through secure map services using the Government-provided environment.

Geographical Names Database (Pangkalan Data Nama Geografi-PDNG) is like a geographical names data bank which is use to store names, locations, historical backgrounds and gazette notifications. It is an authoritative records that are available for government and public use.

National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) defined as the technologies, policies and people necessary to promote sharing of geospatial data throughout all levels of government

  • The Public Sector Geospatial Bulletin or its acronym BGSA is a bulletin published by the National Geospatial Centre (PGN), Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
  • BGSA is an annual event-related publication under the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure Program (MyGDI).
  • Geographic Names Database (PDNG) is a database that stores geographic names, locations, histories and names that have been verified in a consistent format for government and public use. Gazetir, on the other hand, is an index that lists the geographical names found in the PDG.
  • The entire database is made available to users online through the MyGeoName Application. Users can also download gazetteers through the MyGeoName application.
